Vegan Chocolate von laflor
Vegan chocolate: pure indulgence
More and more people are choosing a vegan diet for ethical reasons, and the demand for vegan chocolate is steadily increasing. Most of the dark chocolate from Laflor is made without milk powder anyway, which makes it vegan-friendly. As a result, the chocolate is a great choice for those on a plant-based diet or those who prefer lactose-free alternatives.Advantages of vegan chocolate
Vegan chocolate is full of benefits that make it an excellent alternative to traditional milk chocolate. Here are some of the most important ones at a glance:- High cacao content: vegan chocolate usually has a cacao content of over 70%, which ensures an intense and rich flavor.
- Healthier: Lower in sugar, no dairy fats and high in antioxidants, making it a healthier choice.
- Eco-friendly: No animal products and often sustainably produced, which helps to protect the environment.
- Ethical: No animal exploitation and often fair trade, which means better conditions for producers.
Exquisite vegan chocolate from around the world
Our vegan chocolates are available in many varieties and flavors, with no additives, preservatives or palm oil. We source the exquisite cacao needed for our chocolates directly from smallholder farmers who cultivate the cacao beans sustainably.- Brazilian chocolate: Using cacao from the Fazenda Vera Cruz, we produce two chocolate bars: a 70% bar in four different sizes and an amazing hot chocolate drink.
- Ecuadorian chocolate: We source our cacao from two different locations. Hacienda Limon cacao is used to produce a dark chocolate with a 74% cacao content, available in four different sizes, and – a personal favorite – almond and hazelnut dragées. The cacao from the Tesoro Escondido nature reserve is used to produce a dark, vegan 75% chocolate and a 100% chocolate. The 75% is available in three sizes. The 100% is also available as drinking chocolate and hot chocolate.
- Colombian chocolate: We offer three different sizes of the 69% and 75% Rio Sinu chocolate. The cacao is transported from Colombia to Europe in a sailing ship.
- Venezuelan chocolate: San Cayetano Farm's cacao is the basis for our 73% dark vegan chocolate, which you can buy in four sizes and a 68% version with Farina Bona, which you can buy in three sizes in our online shop.
Chocolate production – the bean-to-bar process
The essence of our chocolate making is the bean-to-bar process. The cacao beans we use for our single-origin chocolates are sourced directly from smallholder farmers in Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela or Ecuador. By working directly with them, we ensure that only their finest beans make it into each bar. These partnerships enable us to guarantee the highest quality beans and improve the farmers' living conditions. The close connection to the farms also ensures a transparent and sustainable supply chain that takes into account both the environment and society. This is the only way to guarantee an outstanding taste experience. Discover how we create exquisite vegan chocolate from premium cacao beans at our manufactory in Zurich.Six steps and your chocolate bar is ready
- Peeling: Our cacao beans are peeled by the company Felchlin in Ibach, Schwyz.
- Roasting: Roasting: We carefully roast the peeled and crushed beans (nibs) on site at our Swiss chocolate manufactory in order to unlock the full flavor of the cacao.
- Grinding: After roasting, the beans are ground in the stone mélangeur. This process produces a liquid cacao mass, which forms the basic ingredient. This is then further refined and combined with sugar and cacao butter to form a smooth mixture.
- Conching: In this step, which also takes place in the melangéur, we refine the mass while constantly stirring it to allow the flavors to fully develop and create a smooth texture.
- Tempering: By precisely controlling the cacao butter's crystalline structure, we ensure that the chocolate has a crunchy and firm texture.
- Molding: We finish by pouring the vegan chocolate into molds and cooling it carefully to achieve its final shape and consistency.
Sustainable vegan chocolate from Laflor
We are committed to sustainable and ethical business practices – from cacao production and transportation to chocolate production and packaging of the finished products. We source the cacao beans for our vegan chocolates directly from smallholder farmers in Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela. We pay the farmers fair prices and support them in using sustainable farming methods. Although they meet all the requirements, it is often very difficult for them to obtain organic certification. To ensure the quality of our products, we regularly visit them on site and maintain a close relationship with them. Laflor carries the organic seal for our production. Our company philosophy revolves around environmentally friendly and ethical practices, from cacao planting to recyclable packaging. We are committed to promoting environmentally friendly methods and acting responsibly. Our sustainability measures:
- Agroforestry: smallholder farms practice agroforestry and cultivate exquisite and sometimes even indigenous cacao varieties.
- Fair prices: We support farmers by paying fair prices and promoting sustainable farming methods.
- Certified organic raw materials: Our cacao butter and sugar are certified organic. The sugar is sourced from the only sugar factory in Switzerland.
- Environmentally friendly transportation: The goods are transported by container ship, and the goods from Colombia even by zero-emission sailing freighter.
- Sustainable packaging: We rely on sustainable, compostable and recyclable alternatives.
