Nearly 50 employees grow cacao at the Hacienda Limon, which is located near the Cotopaxi volcano in Ecuador. They exclusively grow Arriba cacao on the 192 hectares of land at Hacienda Limon. Arriba belongs to the cacao variety “Nacional” and is typical for Ecuador. The rare indigenous cacao variety is threatened by more productive varieties. The German company 12Tree, which manages Hacienda Limon, is rehabilitating the plantation.
