Luxurious moments with Laflor's Hot Chocolate
For a long time, high-quality drinking chocolates were something that was missing in our product range. But the waiting, testing and experimenting has paid off! The new exquisite hot cacao drinks are available in three varieties: Hot Chocolate 70% and Hot Chocolate Spicy 70% with cacao from Fazenda Vera Cruz in Brazil, and Hot Pure Cacao 100% with cacao from Tesoro Escondido in Ecuador. Their uncompromising quality and the origin of the cacao beans from premium cacao-growing areas is what makes these sustainable cacao drinks so special. All products deliver an intense and pure taste experience, although the 70%-Hot Chocolate is slightly sweeter and has a fresher flavor due to its lower cacao content. This makes it more suitable for people who find the roasted aromas and fruity notes of pure cacao drinking chocolate a bit too bitter (at least for now). The luxurious hot chocolates are perfect for anyone who appreciates the authentic flavor of premium cacao but doesn't want to settle for the standard chocolate milk they grew up with. They promise an unforgettable moment of deliciousness that you won't want to miss, especially on cold days!Flavor Profile of Our Drinking Chocolates
The exceptional quality of our sustainable drinking chocolates begins with the carefully selected cacao beans that come from the best growing areas in the world. Each variety tells the story of its origin and the sustainable farming methods that support both the environment and the local community. Discover the delicious flavors of our Fazenda Vera Cruz and Tesoro Escondido hot chocolates.Fazenda Vera Cruz Drinking Chocolate
The cacao beans used for Fazenda Vera Cruz drinking chocolate come from Bahia, Brazil. They cultivate the Cacao Superior de Bahia variety, which is indigenous to the region. This farm is committed to organic and agroforestry agriculture, which allows the cacao to flourish in harmony with the environment instead of in monocultures. This cultivation method gives the high-quality chocolate an eccentric, fresh aroma with a slight bitterness and subtle notes of raisins.Tesoro Escondido Drinking Chocolate
The cacao for Tesoro Escondido Drinking Chocolate comes from the nature reserve of the same name in Esmeraldas, Ecuador. In this region, families have founded a farmers' cooperative that cultivates first-class Nacional, Criollo and Trinitario cacao in the shade of native trees using agroforestry methods. The pure drinking cacao without sugar is a real highlight: it tastes intense, with notes of dark berries, and is pleasantly smooth – a real cacao delight.Preparation: Tips for the perfect cup of hot chocolate
We recommend using one heaped tablespoon (15 g) per 100 ml of liquid for both cacao drinks. The sustainable drinking chocolate is particularly tasty when made in a milk frother, but rather than using milk, as some of us may be accustomed to from our childhood, we recommend using water. The consistency is different, but the taste is very pure and allows you to experience the joy of tasting cacao in its purest form. If you like, you can add some form of sweetener, such as birch sugar, honey or agave syrup. At the end of the day, however, it doesn't really matter how you prepare your drinking chocolate, there are many ways to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, including preparing it with milk or a plant-based alternative! However, it's safe to say that sharing a cup of hot chocolate with your loved ones will make the experience so much more enjoyable, especially on cold and gloomy days! Our sustainable drinking chocolates
Laflor puts a strong emphasis on sustainability and the ethical sourcing of fairly traded cacao. We purchase the cacao beans for our sustainable drinking chocolates directly from our smallholder farmers in Ecuador and Brazil, who receive fair prices as well as support for environmentally friendly organic agriculture. Obtaining an organic certificate is often difficult for smallholder farmers. Through our frequent visits and close cooperation, however, we ensure that all farms operate and cultivate in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. This is why the Laflor chocolate manufactory in Zurich is certified organic overall, despite the fact that not all chocolates officially bear the organic seal.Sustainability measures:
- Organic farming: The Fazenda Vera Cruz in Brazil practices agroforestry and preserves protected forest areas to improve biodiversity.
- Nature reserves: The cacao from Tesoro Escondido in Ecuador is grown in an ASOPROTESCO nature reserve.
- Environmentally friendly transportation: The cacao beans are transported to Europe in container ships and the ready-made drinking chocolates are packaged in environmentally friendly containers.
- Recyclable packaging: The packaging is 100% recyclable: the lid is made of aluminium, the can is made of cardboard.
