Dear chocolate lovers
The price is always a controversial matter. What does the real price consist of? And what reflects the true price? For years, I have been giving guided tours of Zurich’s weekly markets with my second company, Sobre Mesa. The aim of this is to inspire participants to find more joy in shopping for well-produced food and, in the process, to get to know the producers.
It’s often that I hear: oh, shopping at the weekly market is so expensive. But the bottom line is that good quality food, that is produced with respect for people and nature, and especially for future generations, comes at a price.
It is not easy for us, and it is the first time since the founding of our chocolate manufactory. But current circumstances are forcing us to adjust our prices.
Here are a couple of details: The prices of Swiss organic whole milk powder, organic cacao butter, packaging materials, labels and the printing of them, and transportation costs, especially from cacao origin countries, have all increased.
This situation of persistently rising prices also prompts us to increase the wages of our laflor team at the beginning of 2023.
We remain true to our transparent, value-driven, conscious philosophy and continue to pay our producers from all five Origins the high cacao prices, as we honor their work enormously.
Feel free to contact me directly with your specific questions about price adjustments or our mission statement.
We sincerely thank you for your understanding and for your loyalty.
Always munching on some chocolate, we send you our most heartfelt greetings,
Laura and the entire laflor team
