Our Guaviare Cacao is grown and sold by small farmers in their own co-operative. The growing region includes the municipality of Calamar, in particular the village of Tierra Negra. This area, which borders the Amazon, was contested and difficult to access until a few years ago.

Where coca plantations used to predominate, major developments have taken place in recent times. Today, bananas, beans and maize are grown here alongside cacao. The cacao beans are characterised by an impressive, aromatic variety. Guaviare Cacao is laflor’s most sustainable cacao variety, as part of the area is located in the world’s largest tropical national park. We also transport the cacao to Europe on the “Tres Hombres“ sailing ship.
