The evolutionary agroforestry at the Fazenda Vera Cruz

The Fazenda Vera Cruz in Bahia, Brazil, is run by the Swiss couple Roland Müller and Jennifer Tibbaut. There is no other place where cacao is produced in such large quantities as in the Brazilian state of Bahia.

Fazenda Vera Cruz is part of the Cabruca cooperative, which is dedicated to organic and agroforestry production. The goal is to help preserve the Atlantic rainforest through these efforts. “Cacao Superior de Bahia” is grown here, which is an autochthonous cacao variety. Besides cacao, fruits and spices are cultivated here.
